Onto my next project.  I started this Thursday on our way to Green Bay to get our camper!  It’s really knitting up quickly.  It’s called the Garter Yoke Cardigan.  I am using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in the color Mink Heather.  I love the construction of this sweater.  Once it’s done, it’s done except for sewing on the buttons. My kind of sweater.

I had my Audrey in unst cardigan nearly done and realized I didn’t have the correct size needle to finish the button band.  I ordered the needle I needed, but wanted something else to knit in the meantime.  I decided to make Kaleb a Wonderful Wallaby.  I used some Lion Brand Wool Ease that my Mom had given me.  So, basically a free sweater.

It’s a quick knit and he really likes it.  I went with a garter stitch hood for this one and used three-needle bind off for the hood and the underarm seams.   As soon as I finished it he put it on and wouldn’t take it off.

It’s done and I love it!  Pattern is Audrey in unst and the yarn I used is Knit Picks Comfy Cotton in the color Creme Brulee.  I did not get row height gauge so I made some adjustments for that so it didn’t end up being too long.  It turned out perfectly I think.  I love the construction of this sweater too.  When your done there is absolutely no seaming to do. When it’s done, it’s done.  Well, except for the buttons.  Loved this pattern.

It’s a very rainy day today so I decided it would be a good day to do some sewing.  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make, so I looked thru my patterns and various fabrics I had.  Nothing was jumping out at me.  Then I saw this shirt that I had picked up at Goodwill.  I had intended it to be a pair of shorts for one of the kids, but I had the idea that it would make a really cute top for myself!  So I picked out a simple pattern and went to work.

I love how it turned out.  I think it’s the most adorable summer top ever.  That is just my opinion of course.

I have made great progress on my cardigan.  I am really loving how it is looking.  Next up is the sleeves and I am chicken to start them.

But I am in love with the lace bib on this cardigan.  Maybe I will tackle the sleeves later tonite.

I decided to go with the Audrey in Unst for my next knitting project.  I picked Knit Picks Comfy Sport in the color Creme Brulee.  I did my gauge swatches on Thursday and cast it on the same day.  The twisted rib is a bit time consuming but it’s going along nicely.  I have 22 of the 36 rows done.  I think once I get past the rib the sweater will knit up fairly quickly.  I am excited to see it take shape and I just love the color!  I think this sweater will be a bit of a challenge, but I am just taking it one section at a time.

We had pot-luck at church for the 4th of July and I wanted to make a festive cake.  I decided on this cake I found here.  It was super easy to make, and super yummy!  It was a big hit too!

#22 Garter Yoke Cardigan

While strolling around Hobby Lobby last week I found this Ice Cream Cone Cupcake Kit on clearance for $3.  I decided to pick it up and try it out with the kids.  They turned out pretty cute!

The kit only has enough cones for six cupcakes so we used regular ice cream cones with the rest of the batter.  I love how they came out, but the cones do end up tasting kinda stale.  I didn’t have a cake mix, so I used the recipe I found here.

I wanted to make another baby afghan for charity.  I looked on Ravelry for a free pattern I liked and found this one.  I started working on it and decided I really didn’t like how it was looking.  So I dug out my knitting and crochet pattern books and came across the book Sweet Layettes To Knit.  I decided to try the pattern called Perfectly Pink.  My version isn’t pink, but it’s still sweet.

It’s knit holding two strands of yarn together, so it’s going fairly quickly.   It’s an easy pattern to memorize which is always a plus.  Hoping to have it done soonish so I can move onto another project.
